I just had my first job interview in three years. It was on Zoom, which I had only used once before. I was so nervous. I am a talented massage therapist, but super awkward at interviews.

Last Sunday, I randomly checked the job listings, not expecting to see anything of interest to me. Lo and behold, there was a practice and position that seemed made for me. I sent a quickly updated CV over and a short cover letter. They replied with the written questions and then scheduled the Zoom chat for today.

I did my breath work before hand to calm myself, but I get so shaky and there were two interviewers, simultaneously. I don’t wear makeup and I had my hair in a bun, the way I would appear if I worked for them. I hope I didn’t look like a twat. I laugh a lot and had already warned them (they asked for strengths and weaknesses on the written interview)that I was not deft with the small talk.

I admitted to my partner I was almost afraid to get the job, as I would actually have to leave the house! That is a new feeling for me that makes me realise how much this pandemic has changed me. I hadn’t realised how comfortable I had become in here.

If I make it to the skill show part of the interview, the hands on part, I can perform well. I just have a hard…
