My mama said that in Cainhoy in the 1980s, the school encyclopedias were so old, they talked about “if man ever reaches the moon". Social workers like her from the North were told by beaurecrats that giving resources to the poor folk of these counties was a “waste". I bet they didn’t mind taking Cainhoy tax money from those same poor folk, though.

South Carolina was, is, and will remain for some time, an apartheid state. It sickens me.
