While it's dystopian, I think the show was trying to make that point. It was a shiny, subversive little stunt. A very British pisstake. I hope it made old Tory voters choke on their morning scones.
I am choosing to believe Phil and Holly and their producers are aware that it appeared wrong and did it anyway to shove the issue in people's faces.
